As a leader in the energy revolution, Williamson College of the Trades adds solar energy to its portfolio of pioneering electricity production with sustainable means. Williamson College now powers its Restall Sports Center with a rooftop solar system capable of producing enough electricity to power over 11 homes a year.
TerraSol Energies provided Williamson College of the Trades with a solar system that lowers its peak energy usage. In tune with their mission, Williamson hopes this solar system will encourage young men to pursue their interests in the renewable energy industry in a meaningful way.
Located just one mile west of Media, Pennsylvania — and 14 miles from Philadelphia — Williamson College of the Trades has been preparing young men for skilled careers since 1888.
The 220-acre campus is a living, working community where students don’t just study the trades — they live them every single day. Adding solar to that story wasn’t just a facilities decision. It was a natural extension of everything Williamson stands for.
TerraSol designed and installed a 280kW system — 778 panels in total — engineered specifically to reduce peak demand during the summer air conditioning season, when energy costs on a fully residential campus are at their highest. The system now produces 364,100 kWh of clean electricity per year, saving an estimated 248 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
